Changing segment status for a group of segments

There are 7 possible statuses for a segment in Trados Studio 2009:

The status of a segment is displayed in the column between the source segment and the target segment.

You can easily change the status of a segment by right-clicking anywhere on the segment and choosing Change segment status.

But what if you want to change the status of several segments without having to do this one by one?

Multiple selection of segments in Trados Studio 2009 is possible only if performed on the left column displaying segment numbers (i.e. not on the text, but on the number displayed on the left of the source segment).

If you don't see the segment numbers, then enter menu Tools then Options then click on Editor and in the section Side-by-side editor on the right, check Show segment numbers.

In order to change the segment status of a group of segments, you need first to make a multiple segment selection.

How to make a multiple segment selection in Trados Studio 2009?

• left click on the segment number of the first segment of the group
• if necessary, scroll to display the last segment of the group
• pressing Shift, left-click on the segment number of the last segment of the group.
• multiple selection is achieved and all the segments of the selection are displayed with a yellow background (default)

Remember: multiple selection of segments in Trados Studio 2009 is possible only if performed on the left column displaying segment numbers (i.e. not on the text, but on the number displayed on the left of the source segment).

How to change the segment status of a group of segments in Trados Studio 2009?

Now that the segments are selected and displayed with the yellow background, make sure the mouse pointer remains in the left column (i.e. in the segment numbers column), and then right click and choose Change segment status and then the new status you wish to apply to the selected segments!

If you right click somewhere else than in the left column, you'll notice that the multiple selection is lost (white background), and you'll have to start all over again.
